Giver, Taker or Matcher?

Occasionally, we learn something that is fundamental and which has the power to change our understanding.  Often, what we thus learn we realize is common sense, true and right in front of our eyes.  Once they have been opened.

I recently read the book "Give and Take" by the youngest tenured professor (and highest rated teacher) at Wharton.  As you probably know, Wharton is the University of Pennsylvania’s Business School.  So, you know the author is probably an authority on what he is writing about.  But, given his day job, I approached the book cautiously, expecting a snooze.  Happily, Professor Grant is a masterful storyteller and the book is pure gold.

What is the key to success in modern life?  How can you rise to the top of any ladder of success?  Using his, and others’ research, and life stories from the Israeli Defense Force to the NBA and Silicon Valley, Grant shares what separates the winners from the losers in life and in business.

How can you predict the success of a potential employee or business partner?  How can you change your own chances for success?  Is there a foolproof way to increase your productivity as a business owner, sales person or entrepreneur?

There is!  And "Give and Take" shares this information in an entertaining and compelling way.

I know that you were hoping I’d give you the secret before the end of this post.  But I’m not going to!  Instead, I urge you to read the book.  I’ve bought numerous copies for family and colleagues.  It makes a great gift!  If you’re an OAA member and would like a copy I’d be happy to give one to you.  One way or the other read it!
